for the pendantic: lotus notes/domino vs. outlook/exchange

i’m not about to start a flame war, but i did want an incendiary post title to get your attention ;)

graham chastney has provided some insightful commentary on ed brill lotus sphere topic: The Boss Loves Microsoft - where does that leave Lotus?

as i started to read graham’s entry, i caught myself getting defensive. the reason is that i’m a fairly loyal ibm bod, i’ve been working with lotus for almost six years (release 4 if you must know). never the less i always open to hearing constructive criticism so i persisted.

graham had some valid points, and more importantly he addresses the school yard favourites:

the arguments are mature and well thought out. he doesn’t leave the notes guys high and dry, we get thrown the following bones:

well worth the read: click here to read graham’s post

what i’d like to see is the equivalent non-microsoft personnel pitch for outlook/exchange.

      Thanks for the link.

You’ll see stuff on both Notes/Domino and Outlook/Exchange from me, but I’m not sure I would actually write an equivalent, we’ll see.

I use both, work with both, consult on both. There are parts in each that are better than the other, there are parts in both that drive me nuts.
