Running podcasts
By booyaa | April 24, 2007
I’ve always been worried that running podcasts would focus too much on the elite athletics instead of your average joe and his dodgy knees. I was pleasantly surprised by the following podcasts:
- The Final Sprint - #39 featured an entertaining interview with Adam Goucher. This podcast does have a definite a US slant, but then again so does most of teh interweb.
- EndurancePlanet.com - 20th of April 2007 consisted of a reading from a book called “First Triathlons: Personal Stories of Becoming a Triathlete”. Worth listening to because it features the story of the first ever Iron Man as told by its winner Gordon Haller.
- Podrunner - DJ Steveboy’s definitive workout mix.
- Nike+ - train longer, faster, safer with Paula (Radcliffe) and Paul (Tergat) - A short 4 part video podcast series with marathon words of wisdom.
I should point out that whilst I use the term podcast, you don’t need actually need a iPod to listen to them. Any decent MP3 player should suffice (with the exception of the last link which is a video podcast).

I’ve been addicted to podcasts recently, I find they have really helped with my motivation to do long runs.
I’m going to check out the endurance planet episode you mention.
The two I love at the moment are:
“Get your geek on” link at http://www.trigeekdreams.com/index.html
and “Simply Stu” who is crazily american but gets you onside eventually - check episode 52 for an amazing discussion on training techniques.
They are both triathlon podcasts but of course running is huge element in tri’s.

Hey thanks for those two, I’ve added them to my playlist!

thanks! - i never knew about these and am now really addicted … although when i get fired from work for listening to podcasts, it’s your fault, haha.
Anyways, so the newest epsiode of The Final Sprint Podcast (42 i think) is actually an interview with the dude from Podrunner. It’s pretty tight:

Time to get back to “work”. Take care Booyaa
