What no weblinks post? The runner returneth!
By booyaa | July 1, 2007
Yup thought I might start blogging about running again. I didn’t want anyone to think I was a one hit marathoner
To give you some background, since completing the marathon I forced myself to do two weeks of non-running. This mostly involved core strength exercises. Unfortunately I neglected to include any form of aerobic/cardio workout i.e. biking or swimming. The result of which meant I lost all of my hard earned fitness. Well maybe not all of it, but certainly a great deal of it perhaps 50%-75% of my running ability.
In addition to this, my ITB is still playing up. I’ve booked an appointment with the fizzy, I suspect he’ll tell me to lay off running for a bit longer.
I also feel that I’ve lost focus on training, previously I had a plan and its purpose was to get me to the marathon. Now I don’t have a key race to train for and it’s kinda hard to think what I should doing at the moment. So far I’ve come up with a three day training plan easy, interval and long. Easy and interval will be short mileage no more than 20-40 minutes. Long will between an 1 hour to 1.5 hours. Those of you with a keen eye will notice I’m working with time rather than distance. I’m going prolly stick to this until there’s a specific race, like the Kingston 16 that involves some training.
So there you have it, I’m back on the wagon! Well sort of.
How depressing is that for post-race mileage?

The dip in the run is probably the result of my HRM and Nike+ having some kinda of cross-interference. It was raining slightly and perhaps the interface was electrical?

You shouldn’t be depressed about post marathon mileage! I did a half, and I injured my knee and couldn’t run for two months! Now, I’m just back to doing 6 miles a week… lame!
