Run log week ending July 8th

    By booyaa | July 11, 2007

Last week was a very productive in terms of running. I managed to log two runs this week (more on this later) an easy run in midweek and a long run in the weekend.

I still find it hard to maintain a consistent pace at shorter distance. Average pace of 9:24 / mile.

On Thursday I paid my first visit to the fizzy and was pleasantly surprised to be told that it would take at least 6 weeks before I lost the level of fitness I had achieved so far. I told David of soreness I still get from the running and was pleasantly surprised (again) to find out that I wouldn’t need to stop running, instead I would just need to keep it to two runs a week until I was mended. I was also warned against lengthening my stride i.e. running faster as this would probably aggravate the ITB.

I attended the Bushy Park Time Trial on Saturday, I was bit hopeful thinking I would get a sub 22 time. Instead I ran 24:53 with an average pace of 8:01 / mile. I did find some energy to start picking off people at the end when I thought I had no energy left. I was 3rd row from the front, I may drop back to 5th because a lot of people passed me, but I didn’t need to clear through a load of people this time.

This was my post race run, which was more of an exploration run to find the Hampton outdoor pool. Looks like I won’t be “jogging” over in the morning for a quick dip, it’s too far away, maybe too far with a bike, so I’ll be night and weekend swimming (when I eventually start swimming). Average pace of 11:57 / mile.
